1967 Vox Apollo IV semi-acoustic bass - Cherry

SKU: voxapollo

1967 Vox Apollo IV V271 semiacoustic bass

Cherry finish with heavy finish checking

But don't let the checking fool you - this pro-owned bass is set up beautifully, and it plays great.

The neck is extremely comfortable, and the action is nice and low with no buzzing anywhere.

Weighing just 7 lbs., you won't want to put it down.

Keep it on a stand near the couch and I think you'll be shocked how much use it gets!

Plug it in, and enjoy the handy "G Tuner" feature, which sends a G note into your amp so you can tune the G string to pitch, check out the active treble boost and bass boost, and the extremely cool fuzz circuit, which will let you get surprisingly close to the bass tone used in Muse's Hysteria!

This semi acoustic, single pickup bass guitar featured a single florentine (pointed) cutaway and a number of onboard battery operated special effects.
The 1968 US Vox catalog described the Apollo IV Bass as follows:

"A exciting all new 4-string Florentine cutaway electric acoustic bass. Has built-in G tuner, distortion booster, treble and bass booster. All new easy-to-fret fast-neck featuring Vox double T-bar and adjustable steel rod. Exclusive VOX Ferro-Sonic pickup. Fully adjustable bridge. One volume and one tone control. Chrome plated machine heads. Available finishes: Sunburst or Cherry."

The 1968 US Vox price list indicated that the retail price of the Apollo IV Bass was $295 USD. In today's dollars, the Apollo IV Bass would retail for about $1899.

The Apollo IV Bass was produced for Vox in Italy by Eko. A decal on the back of the head stock states: "Made for Vox in Italy."

Includes a very nice high quality TKL hard case in excellent working and cosmetic condition
