This is absolutely one of the very nicest fretless 4-string basses I have played in my entire life.
The neck feel is absolutely sublime. The action is insanely low, it is effortless to play, the tone is to die for, and it has all the mwah and sustain you could ever want.
Let me state right up front that because of the woods used in this bass, it is not a light one!
As long as you are able to play a bass weighing 11 lbs. 5 oz., you will be generously rewarded with the most smile-inducing tone and feel that you could ever imagine. When I tested it out after receiving it, I found it impossible to put down. After playing it for a couple hours, I had to force myself to stop playing so I could take these photos.
This bass was recently upgraded with a new set of MEC pickups and a new 2-band preamp, all parts were personally recommended by Hans Peter Wilfer at Warwick. All electronics work and installation professionally performed by Mark Herbert at Guitar Works of Brookline, MA. (Pat Metheny's tech.)
As a result of the restoration that was done at the Warwick factory, this bass could almost qualify as being considered "New Old Stock" if it weren't for the light superficial cosmetic wear in certain places, such as the rear cavity cover. It is electrically and mechanically like a brand new bass.
Whoever purchases this bass is going to be a very lucky individual. This one is a lifetime keeper. (And yes, I'm fighting very hard to resist the urge to keep it for myself.)
