This is a unique top for several reasons. The owner chose it out of a room full of different top woods. It is the only spalted maple he had ever have seen that is also flamed and has streaks of gray and pink. He found out later from Joey that they only had 2 sets of this top. Nathan East has the other.
The electronics were changed in late 90’s. It's a custom system designed by Mike Pope and installed at the Fodera shop. It consists of 3 pickups and 2 preamps...
First system:
2 Seymour Duncan Dummy Coil pickups (Wenge Covers) in 70’s Jazz Bass Spacing, 18-Volt Mike Pope preamp, Mute switch, active/passive/coil tap/blend/passive tone/Bass, Mid, Treble.
Second System: Pull out the small second volume pot to switch to this system, and the 2 main pickups will disengage and a solo Seymour Duncan Dummy Coil pickup is engaged, with its own separate 18-volt Mike Pope preamp/volume, separate Bass, Middle, Treble. This is the center pickup, and it has a Brazilian Rosewood cover.
Bass has been Pleked and all work/maintenance has been done by Joey in the Fodera shop.
