This bass is crazy beautiful and brings the build quality, playability, looks and tone that are responsible for the Smith reputation. Nothing else looks like a Smith, and nothing else sounds like a Smith. The expression "plays like butter" is completely applicable here.

Top wood: Exhibition Grade 5A Flamed Maple
Back wood: Presentation Grade 4A Flamed Maple
Note: The top and back come from a special piece Ken had been saving since the mid 1990's.
Neck: 5 pc. graphite reinforced neckthrough construction, including 3 pc. of Maple and 2 Shedua stringers
Fingerboard: Quartersawn Macassar Ebony, hand-filed brass nut, 34" scale, 24 frets
Pickups: Ken Smith Humbucking Soapbars (that tone!)
Preamp: Ken Smith 18V 3-band, with series/parallel switches
Strings: Bass has been restrung with DR Hi-Beams, 40-60-80-100-120
