Vintage 1953 Kay K162 Howlin' Wolf
1953 Kay Howlin' Wolf semicoustic bass
Don't judge based on cosmetic appearance - this wonderful 71 year old bass still has a LOT of life left in it!
The neck has been reset (which is expected and typical for these since there is no truss rod)
As a result, the bass is extremely fun and very comfortable to play. I had a very hard time putting it down while testing it out for this listing.
The neck is a tall and narrow V shape, with .018" of relief. (Measured at the 6th fret, while fretting the 1st and 13th frets.
The E string is 4/32" above the 12th fret.
The G string is 3/32" above the 12th fret.
The bass weighs 6 lbs. 14 oz., and ships in a mint condition and very protective Kay form-fitting hardshell case.
Controls and tuners are all working perfectly.
The intonation is perfect too - the bass is fully dialed in with a pro setup, and is ready for studio or stage. Needs nothing!
This bass is on consignment.
